Wildlife Rehabilitation Center/Rio Grande Nature Center

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Architect: Rob Vadurro AIA
Contractor: Mercado Construction

Located in the bosque, or cottonwood forest, and by the wetland bordering the Rio Grande, the Nature Center is the focus of the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park. A refuge from the city life of Albuquerque, the park offers opportunities to experience 270 acres of woods, meadows and farmland flourishing with native grasses, wildflowers, willows and cottonwoods.

Sierra Pacific products are featured in the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, where sick or injured animals receive care and nutrition.

Sandstone and sage green exterior casements, awnings and direct glaze units grace the building and harmonize with the surrounding landscape.

The clerestory windows provide natural daylight to soothe the animals within.
