Newly opened in the spring of 2005, Les Mars Hotel is located in the world-famous Sonoma Valley Wine Country. Reminiscent of a European Inn, Les Mars brings the feel of a French Chateau to the Sonoma Valley.
The Challenge of this project was to replicate European-style inswing casement windows in the guest rooms, while adhering to the performance standards of California. The goal was achieved by creatively utilizing shortened, inswing door frames with narrow operable, hinged sidelights, so that the visitors could open each window/door inward and have access to the small balcony outside.
Sierra Pacific white clad was used on the upper level guest rooms, matching the painted windows on the lower level, adding to the distinct European feel of the building.
